... Now, discipline always seems painful rather than pleasant at the time, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. Hebrews 12:11 ... Faithful Lord, guide us through the struggles and trials of our lives. Help us to be renewed in the midst of them, to be open to new possibilities beyond them. Keep us strong, give us courage, and keep us always close to you. Amen.

Xp Windows update Empty
PostSubject: Xp Windows update   Xp Windows update EmptyMon Aug 09, 2010 12:28 am

Hi guys,
I have had several updates for windows XP the last few months waiting to install. Every time I tried to apply them, the updates for the Framework failed. Since this causes a security issue, I needed to get it sorted.

After spending about five hours in a brainstorming season today, and, having to removed most of the framework programs in control panel first, and then applying the new, full works fix, framework, I've now managed to get it and all the latest priority updates loaded.

So I'm quite contented with my old desktop tonight, it was bugging me and I thought I couldn't fix it! Smile

However, here is a question: When are microsoft going to make it easy for their customers?..a lot of people do not have the expertise on tap and certainly XP updates are not always user friendly for grey-haired old ladies wanting to use their computer to read the, "Help the aged," website. Nor for grey-haired old men for that matter. Smile

Hi Derek,

I think I would be content if I had sorted the problem out that way. When I had that recent problem with Linux, I bought a Vista installation DVD on eBay and installed it over the Linux operating system. It cost me €30 and a few days for delivery and I had to settle for that.

As for Windows frameworks, I have an old Palm smartphone that uses a Windows mobile system and it won’t install many of the new apps that are being developed because it says the framework is too old to support them. I have fooled around with the system a bit but with no success so far. There is even less information available for this technology, and what there is, I can’t understand anyway.

When will Microsoft become more user-friendly? All I can say is that while they do let us down in certain ways, it seems very easy compared to Linux. I really admire the guys who develop Linus but it really does demand a higher level of understanding of computers and a lot of time to learn, time I would prefer to give to other things. Oh, I wonder what a Mac system is like? I never had one of those.

Regards,
Brendan.
