... Now, discipline always seems painful rather than pleasant at the time,
but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who
have been trained by it. Hebrews 12:11
... Faithful Lord, guide us through the struggles and trials of our lives.
Help us to be renewed in the midst of them, to be open to new
possibilities beyond them. Keep us strong, give us courage, and keep us
always close to you. Amen.

| Hi Derek, He does nice stuff. I see he introduces one guy as an ex-biker buddy. In another video, all the band could be bikers. Bikers seem to have a strong bond. Maybe they are perfect for fellowship. Regards, Brendan. | |

| Hi Brendan, You could be right. Some with common interests don't bond too well. Birders are a funny bunch...too much competition! regards Derek - brendan wrote:

Regards, Brendan. They sure do have a strong bond. Last Saturday, I went to a "biker wedding". A gal that Lynn got to know had/has a biker past, and this gal met a guy last year and they got married last weekend. Before she moved, we used to attend a weekly Bible study in her home earlier this year. Anyway, it was colorful. I was the only one there not wearing jeans and a black leather vest, and this includes the Pastor. Many were tatooed and pierced from the ground up. Lynn and I pulled up in a Hyundai; almost everyone else pulled up in Harley Davidsons. Well, after the Pastor was done 'officiating', the Bride and Groom had a short make-out session, and then, the biker-dudes in the audience all got up in unison, went to a corner of the outside lot we were on, pulled out their firearms from underneath their vests, and in celebration, all displayed their shooting prowess aimed at a tree in the forest just beyond. It was very loud. Afterward, I mingled in the crowd a bit. They were all extremely respectful of me and each other, and not a drop of alcohol/drugs was to be seen on the premises (all their black leather vests proudly displayed "X-WINO" on the back...). I was genuinely surprised at the juxtuposition of their looks vs. their behavior, and, they were a rather honest lot, something else I liked. It struck me that these were the folks that this government really fears; independent, off the "grid", and armed (you could add to this that some of them were professed Christians-something else that is not exactly government friendly).

| Hi Matt, That is interesting. It really illustrates our cultural differences.
If bikers were to do the same sort of thing in the UK with weapons they would all go to prison for a very long time. regards Derek

On the other hand, the lasat time I skyped Mr. "Spry" he was very fond of all the 'hardware' he had on hand, and he commented that he was one of the few that was so armed. Good for him. I swear I must be the ONLY Kansan that doesnt "pack heat". Ive been at lunch with business clients that were "packing". This is actually a very polite place to be, for obvious reasons... But, I also think that The Powers That Be (TPTB) are terrified of people like this, becuase these folks will not be forcibly controlled without consequences.

| Wow, heavy! I was used to the 'Bible on the dash, gun in the glove box' Christianity in Washington. We had a lot of Montana men around us too.
I had to face that question 'will Jesus save me?'. And it didn't happen in America. I don't believe He will, not in this way. We Christians have to decide for ourselves how far we will go to protect ourselves and family. The only thing stopping me using extreme force is the lack of a suitable weapon.
I wonder what the difference in nature is between birders and bikers? I bet bikers make great Christians with that sense of not just mutual interest, but a sense of belonging too. Biking seems to go beyond class and income -weird and wonderful!

| Hi Derek,
I would have got such a charge from that, especially the bang, crash, wallop and bells ringing at the end of the 1812 symphony!
I watched a documentary on the life and works of Vaughan Williams on BBC 4 last night. His life was fascinating. I can't say I know even one of his works well but I sure got the motivation to go out and buy something.
It is now the 25th anniversary of Les Miserables. Apparently, the show is being performed at three different venues in Britain right now. The anniversary show is being performed in the O2 theatre in London tomorrow evening and we are going to watch it by satellite in our local cinema.
I thanks God for the gift of music!
Regards, Brendan.
